42...It's not just a number...

Hello again readers & as you all know today is "Jackie Robinson day". I love this day for so many reasons & will share a few with you.

As y'all know I am a Texas girl that LOVES baseball over football & my alltime favorite player is Jackie Robinson. The other day my younger sister and I went to go see "42" the story about his life & like an idiot I was balling in the theater. These tears where not just tears of sadness but also tears of joy. Mainly because I haven't forgotten what Jackie did for baseball or the world. I say this in honesty & truth. The movie showed so much about his life & how he "silently" faught for his fellow man & for the game he loved.

Because Jackie was a dreamer, an achiever & a believer. Jackie was a legend, a hero, &  a fighter. Jackie loved the game, I love the game. Jackie was a Christian, I am a Christian. What is my point? My point is simply Jackie had thick skin. Why? Because he knew that breaking an unwritten law wouldn't be easy but he knew he had to do it. Not just for African-American baseball players but for players of all ethnicities in ALL sports.

As I was watching "42" and sobbing I couldn't help but continually, silently thank Jackie for all he did. Sure I am a GIRL but my last name IS Hispanic. 42 is not just a number it is a statement, a staple & a strong reminder that there is a "quiet" fighter in us all. It is this simble that reminds us daily that no matter what color we are we can come together as 1. 42 means "1" in that aspect because when MLB gets together on this very special day everyone on the field wears 42. PeeWee Reese said it best "...Maybe tomorrow we will all wear 42...." Today that saying is a reality Because 42 is not just a number!

So I close with this. I poudly wear 42 in spirit. Will you join me?

Until next time. Peace. Love. BASEBALL (Thanks Jackie, thanks for taking so much so I could love this game too!)

It's tough to be an Astros fan...

Hello again readers. As you all know from my original blog I am a born an raised Astros fan. Today I write as a fan that knows there are always ups and downs in baseball. With that being said I am going to write today about how happy and disappointed I have been with the Astros but don't worry I will leave on a high note due to the fact that they spanked the Mariners last night.

Over my nearly 26 years of being an Astros fan there have been  many ups and downs and so many in betweens. Here are just some of the ones that come to mind.

First a low seeing the Astros lose 20 out of 22 games not just 1 year of my life but 2.  High seeing the Astros defeat the Braves in a 5 game series to get to the NLCS. Low Seeing the Astros trade Curt Schilling only to see him win 3 World Series rings not being an Astros player. High getting to watch Craig Biggio and Jeff Bagwell play both their careers as Astros. Low seeing the Astros lose the World Series in 4. High seeing the Astros get to the World Series.

Now I know many of you are wondering why I say them together, and here is why because all in all it's tough to be an Astros fan. Now I love them don't get me wrong. Through thick & thin they are my team. Win or lose they are my team. I love them when they win & love them when they lose. The best part of watching them play is simply knowing that they will always be the "Never say die kids". Proof last night to not give up on them. Yet another high of being an Astros fan. So yeah it may be tough to be an Astros fan but I wouldn't change it for the world!!

Until next time. Peace. Love. Baseball!!

Josh Hamilton the man the legend the ballplayer that doesn't think Dallas is a baseball town? What?!?!?

Hello my fellow Baseball lovers. It is so nice to have the game we all love "Back in Black" (See what I did there?) LOL Today I am going to write about Josh Hamilton & my thoughts about how he said Dallas isn't a baseball town. If you missed the article read here http://www.cbssports.com/mlb/blog/eye-on-baseball/21727075/josh-hamilton-says-dallas-isnt-a-baseball-town then read my blog.

SO again I say Josh Hamilton the man the legend the ballplayer that doesn't think Dallas is a baseball town? What?!?!?

Ok now if you read or heard that Hambone said "Texas, especially Dallas, has always been a football town..." now before you let in on me as if it was the 4th of July just keep reading & "hear" me out.
Today is April 7th 2013 tonight the Rangers finish their 3 game series (the first of the year with the Angels)
The Rangers won game one & lost game 2 & EVERY at bat Hambone had against the Rangers the "fans" booed Josh. Everyone that loves baseball saw that or heard about but here is my take on it...

JOSH IS RIGHT!!! Yes I said it & here is why I said it. Again keep reading before you get mad...

I am a born & raised Texas girl. I LOVE Baseball & always have but I LOVE Football too. For fans to say that Josh is horrible or mean or that they are angry for him for leaving just proves that Josh is right. As I was watching yesterdays game I couldn't help but laugh at one of the announcers (I can't remember who said it) as he said something around the lines of "I'm sure Josh didn't mean anything by it but it still stings these fans." I laughed because as a Texan sure it stings the fans that booed Josh because EVERY ONE OF THEM knows that Josh is right & that is what stings. It was NOT what he said or how he said it is the fact that deep down inside after they heard it they knew he was right & THAT is what stings.

Sure I was upset with Hambone for leaving too but I'm not going to boo him because he not only spoke his mind he spoke the truth. Don't get me wrong I was sad to hear Josh say that our state especially Dallas isn't a baseball town or state but it is the truth. I mean seriously I went to Opening Day this year Astros vs Rangers & the person who threw out the "first pitch" was JJ Watt! A FOOTBALL player! Espn covered the game & Minute Maid Park was packed full! Why? Because a FOOTBALL player was there! Fans weren't there to watch baseball they were there to see JJ! Any "fan" that says they were there for the game is either A. Lying. B. Lying or C. Lying. I was honestly there for baseball because you readers know that IT'S my game!

So now I say again JOSH IS RIGHT! Those "fans" that don't agree with me can kiss Josh's bat because you & I both know that he is right! I support him & yes I know many of you would call me a trader to the Rangers but I don't care. I support him, simply for the fact that he is an AMAZING player & man of GOD. I am a Christian & will pray & support him no matter what. Now if that upsets you that is your problem not mine! I will leave with these thoughts. If you aren't going to support Josh why be a fan of baseball? Josh is an amazing & blessed player, that is what makes him so great.

Until next time Peace. Love. Baseball
